Peaceful Villa Redevelopment

Peaceful Villa is a two block redevelopment project of an existing 70-unit multifamily garden-style housing project in SE Portland, situated between SE 46th and 47th, between Clinton and Woodward. Home Forward is proposing to dismantle the current 18 building, 70-unit development with 166 new multi-family housing units, new landscaping, amenities and supportive services. Current residents of Peaceful Villa have been offered a first right of return.

We recognize this is a significant change in our community and want to ensure an accessible means to follow along in the process as best as possible. You can see links to presentations, images, and fact sheets below. Home Forward also has a Community Advisory Committee which has a member from the RNA Board as well as current Peaceful Villa residents and neighbors.

RNA Open House & SURVEY

On Saturday, March 11, 2022 volunteers from RNA organized a three-hour Community Meeting & Open House to support Peaceful Villa residents, support affordable housing and share information with the broader community. RNA volunteers did extensive outreach to notify the community about the event and worked to make it accessible and inclusive and welcoming by offering food and childcare, and creating an online anonymous survey to give feedback.

The event was attended by close to 100 people who shared comments and questions.

HOME FORWARD COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

This project is focusing on the voices of people with lived experience in affordable housing.

  • The design team held 4 Focus Group meetings with residents. The general footprint of the buildings and the design was set prior to these meetings. The Community Advisory Committee process began following these focus groups.

Richmond has had Home Forward and BORA Architects attend the Richmond NA regular monthly meeting on two occasions. A brief presentation in Spring 2022 was made regarding the project and a request for representative from the Board. Heather Flint Chatto was nominated to serve as the RNA representative to the Peaceful Villa Community Advisory Committee (CAC). The project was presented to RNAon August 8, 2022.
